Queen City Field Trip
OBC recently spent a weekend in the Queen City on "other business," but found time to parlay the trip into a visit to Rock Bottom Brewery, Moerlein Lager House and Moerlein Malt House Taproom. They did not disappoint!
While Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery is technically a national chain, the Cincinnati location on Fountain Square is without a doubt a LOCAL brewery. They hit a home run with the Crosley Field Pale Ale, an apropos homage to the home of the Reds until 1970.
Speaking of the Reds, Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. constructed an architectural temple of craft beer right next door to GABP. It's multi-level, indoor/outdoor seating offered great views of the Ohio River on the nicest day of 2015! Don't be surprised when you get lost (enjoyably) in their in-house, Ohio and "beyond Ohio" selection of craft beer. Their very own Handlebar Double Stout and Helltown Rye-OT were enjoyed by all.
The weekend ended with the Queen City Underground Tour from American Legacy Tours in Over the Rhine. This is a must if you have any interest in Cincinnati brewery history. Not only are you granted access to the Kauffman Brewery's "lager tunnels," you end the tour with a crafted pint at the Moerlein Malt House Taproom. What's not to love? Special thanks to our tour guide John...great job!
Tip of the cap Cincinnati!
